Packages & offers
A few good reasons to stay longer
Most of what's in these packages you could book yourself, one piece at a time. We put them together because guests kept asking us to, and because it's nicer to arrive and find everything already arranged.
How packages work
Each package is your room at its usual nightly rate, plus the extras listed. Choose the package on our reservation request form, or mention it when you call, and Samuel or one of the front-desk team will put everything in place: tickets held in your name, a table booked at The Ledger, the court reserved. Prices below are for two people sharing a room. Taxes are extra, and breakfast in the Lantern Room is included with every stay, package or not.
April – November
The Haunted Weekend
Two nights, history first and stories after. Arrive on Friday or Saturday and join the Lantern Ghost Walk at 8:00 pm: seventy-five minutes with Samuel or one of our guides, starting in the front hall, up through the house and out along three nearby streets. No jump scares, no actors in sheets, just the house's real names and dates and the things guests have told us for nearly thirty years. On Sunday afternoon, sit down for Tarot & Tea in the Library with Madame Corvina, a twenty-minute reading each with a pot of tea and a lavender scone. In between, a Widow's Lantern or a Pell's Remedy each at the Undertaker's Parlor, on us.
Ask for the Nursery, the Lady's Chamber or the Widow's Walk Suite if you'd like to sleep where the stories are. We can't promise a visit. We can promise the log.
- Two nights in any room
- Two tickets to the Lantern Ghost Walk
- Two Tarot & Tea readings with Madame Corvina, Sunday 2–5 pm
- A cocktail each (or a zero-proof Little Tom) at the Undertaker's Parlor
- A printed copy of the house's ghost stories, written by Samuel
In October, add the Friday Séance Supper in the Great Hall ($145 per person, 18 and over). The October 3-night minimum applies, and Tarot & Tea slots fill months ahead.
May – September
The Pickle & Pint Getaway
Three nights, Thursday to Sunday, built around our two courts behind the carriage house. Thursday at 5:30 pm, join the Pickle & Pint social round robin: rotating partners, all levels, and a pint afterward in the bar with whoever beat you. Saturday at 9:00, take the morning clinic with our coach, Benny Ruiz, who has a gift for fixing your third shot without making you feel bad about the first two. The rest of the weekend the courts are yours whenever they're free, from 8 am until dusk, with paddles and balls to borrow.
The package works with any room, but it was made for the Carriage House Suite, which is thirty steps from the courts and the only room that takes dogs. Your dog may watch.
- Three nights, Thursday through Saturday night
- Pickle & Pint round robin on Thursday evening, with a pint each
- Saturday clinic (9–10:30 am) with Benny Ruiz for two
- Court time whenever it's free, paddles and balls included
- Two bikes to borrow for the weekend
November – April, Sunday to Thursday
Midweek Quiet
Our tagline is "A Salem inn since 1748. Mostly quiet." Midweek in winter it is entirely quiet. The crowds are gone, the streets of the historic district are yours, the Library fire is lit every afternoon and the only sound on the third floor is, possibly, a marble. Stay three weeknights, Sunday through Thursday, and the third night is on us. Stay through Thursday and you'll catch Samuel's free history talk in the Library at 7 pm, which is the best hour you can spend in this house.
Midweek Quiet is especially good in the Ledger Room, which writers have been booking for exactly this for years, and in the Garrets, where the rain on the roof is the whole point.
- Three weeknights for the price of two (any room)
- A reserved seat by the fire at the Thursday history talk
- Afternoon tea in the Library each day you stay
- Late check-out at 1:00 pm on your last day, when the house allows
Not available over Thanksgiving, the week between Christmas and New Year's, or the Presidents' Day and February school vacation weeks. The Ledger is closed Monday and Tuesday outside October; breakfast is served every day.
All year
Romance at the Crane & Lantern
Two nights in one of our three most romantic rooms: Josiah's paneled Captain's Quarters with its fire, Abigail's canopy bed in the Lady's Chamber, or the Widow's Walk Suite with its own stair to the stars. You'll find champagne on ice and a plate of Abigail's lavender scones waiting when you arrive. On one night, sit down to Chef Dee Okafor's five-course Ledger tasting in the old chapel wing, a menu that moves with the season and with whatever came off the boats that morning. Add the wine pairing if you like; we'd recommend it.
- Two nights in the Captain's Quarters, the Lady's Chamber or the Widow's Walk Suite
- Champagne and lavender scones in your room on arrival
- The five-course Ledger tasting for two
- Rose petals, a handwritten card, or nothing at all: you tell us
The Ledger serves dinner Wednesday to Sunday (every day in October), so plan your tasting night for one of those evenings. Proposing on the widow's walk? Tell Samuel. He's helped with forty-one, and he knows where to stand so he's out of the photographs.
Give it as a gift
Any of these packages can be given as a gift card. Gift cards come in any amount from $50, by mail or by email, and are good for rooms, The Ledger, the bar and our activities. Tell us which package you have in mind and we'll write it on the card.
The fine print
- Packages are priced for two people sharing one room, on top of the room's nightly rate for your dates. Taxes not included.
- Our usual minimum stays still apply: 2 nights on weekends, and 3 nights for any stay that touches an October weekend.
- Packages can't be combined with each other or with other offers, and aren't available for wedding room blocks or full-house buyouts.
- Activity times are fixed (ghost walks at 8:00 pm, Tarot & Tea on Sundays, the clinic on Saturday mornings). If weather cancels an outdoor activity, we'll reschedule within your stay or take it off your bill.
- Package extras aren't refundable if unused, but they're never wasted: tell us and we'll give the tickets to someone at breakfast who'd love them.
- Our normal cancellation policy applies to the whole package.
